BMW Zagato Coupe unveiled, hails the glory days of hand-built cars

Add some Italian styling with some German engineering and you are in for surprise, a car as sexy as the BMW Zagato Coupe Concept.

BMW announced their partnership with the legendary Italian styling house Zagato at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The one-off Zagato Coupe is undeniably a beauty, blending the DNA of two accomplished companies for a hand-crafted creation that will look right at home out at the banks of Lake Como.

The BMW Zagato Coupe is the hottest in a line of BMW collaborations with Italian styling houses. The first alliance between the two companies was in 1939 with the creation of the first BMWs sporting custom-built Italian metalwork, a coupe based on the BMW 328 for the upcoming race season.

The aerodynamically optimized Zagato Coupe is fully road-registered for use in Germany and has even undergone high-speed testing at the German automaker’s own test facility. On all four corners of the Zagato Coupe are 19-inch, five-spoke wheels with a classy design. Details such as the extremely long bonnet, double bubble roof and Kamm Tail are visually striking Zagato hallmarks that give the car a unique and straight away recognizable character.
